Roving

Our fleeces are processed without the use of chemicals. Most commercially procesesed roving and yarn have been chemically processed to remove all "VM" (vegetable matter; ie weed seeds, bits of hay etc). The residue from these chemicals has been known to cause allergic reactions.

Those of us that raise sheep primarily for fiber, know that VM is a big issue for handspinners (most of us being handspinners ourselves). So we do our best to keep clean pastures, feed so that the hay doesn't drop onto the necks and backs as they eat and then skirt our fleeces before processing to remove any debris that does sneak in. You can be assured that our fleeces will NEVER be chemically processed to remove VM!

This is roving from our BFL/BL hybrid cross, Golden Ticket. Goldie's fiber is the winner this year for softest, silkiest fiber! It is like a cloud and spins up like a dream (catcher? :) I have 3 lbs of Goldie's fiber left, get yours before its all gone!

$27.50 per lb / 2.00 per ounce

This is from our 2 purebred BFL's Amy and Lemara. It is a very close second to Goldie's in softness and sheen. Both are perfect for next to the skin garments.

$27.50 per lb / $2.00 per ounce

This roving is from our North Country Cheviots. It has more loftiness than the BFL but isn't quite as soft. It is great for dying, felting (wet or needle) and for knitting up and fulling.

$20.00 per lb / $1.50 per ounce

Rose and Ari are 2 yearlings so this wool still has that tender softness of lambs wool. I have done some dying with it and it dyes up beautifully and spins up just as nicely.

$25.00 per lb / $1.75 per ounce

This roving is from our 2 purebred Shetlands, Lily and Nutmeg. It is a very nice Shetland, I wish I could tell you if its double coated or not but I'm still learning about that. I can just say that it is soft enough for next to the skin garments and I don't notice any scratchy hair fibers in it.

$25.00 per lb / $1.75 per ounce

I will be taking some new pictures because this simply doesn't do Roark justice. Roark is my pride and joy and is the sire to all of our beautiful lambs. I have spun and knitted a lacey shawl out of Roarks fiber and it is soft, silky and the way it hangs is just, well its the reason I started raising this breed. Roark is a BFL/BL hybrid and the colors in his wool are what really set him apart. There is a combination of chocolate brown, dark brown and creamy greys, its just beautiful. Its why I'm so devoted to natural colored sheep!

$27.50 per lb / 2.00 per ounce

Black Dahlia is a yearling ewe from one of our purebred Shetlands, Jane. Unfortunately Dahli got into some burrs that slipped past the skirters. Most was removed during carding but some still remains. Dahli's wool is appropriate for outerwear, felting (wet and needle).

$15.00 per lb / $1.25 per ounce

$20.00 per skein

This 2 ply yarn is spun from our lamb named "Stormy Wether" first shearing (my spelling is fine, wether is a castrated ram lamb :). Stormy is what is called a blackbelly, meaning his belly, legs and face are black. The majority of his usable wool is a beautiful light oatmealy grey (very subtle). Stormy has almost a little bit of everything we raise mixed in there, BFL, BL, Shetland, Scottish Blackface and maybe Cheviot (mom is a mystery!). I am very pleased with his wool and he's also a beautiful sheep to look at! His wool is very soft and has some loft to it but also retains that nice drape associated with leicester wools. It is appropriate for next to the skin garments.

This 2 ply yarn is 14 WPI (wraps per inch) making it a medium sport weight yarn. Recommended needle size is 4-8. It can be wound into center pull balls, just mention that when purchasing. I also have another pound or 2 of roving so I can spin up more if needed.

I currently have 4 skeins available, more available upon request.

$20.00 per skein

This is a 2 ply handspun yarn from Pewter and Stormy's wool. Wow, is it soft!! I seriously considered keeping this for myself, the luster is DREAMY (sorry, couldn't resist)! This would make an amazing pair of socks or a great scarf (think winter lol). Its never too soon to start those (ahem) Christmas knitting projects :)!

I currently have 2 skeins, more available upon request.

DreamFiber Slouch Bag

All bags are fully lined with contrasting fabric and have a beaded zipper pull.

$50

The females in my family are bag/purse freaks. I can't remember how many times my mother has said "I need a new purse". My sister showed up with a new leather slouch bag one day and I said to myself "Self, you can make that with wool!" So I did! Once again, Miss Cybil supplied me with the fiber and I did the rest. The cheviots don't know this but they've got an appointment with the shears so I can make more!
